NCWA is not a state or federal agency, department, division, or public body. We are not affiliated with or acting on behalf of the State of North Carolina, NCDOL, OSHA, the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor, or any other governmental entity.
Not a law firm
NCWA is not a law firm, does not practise law, and is not authorised to practise law in any jurisdiction. We do not provide legal representation, do not act as counsel, and do not provide legal advice.
Not an agency or representative
NCWA does not act as an agent, representative, broker, or advocate for any complainant, employer, employee, or third party. We do not negotiate on anyone’s behalf or file anything with any agency on your behalf.
Not affiliated with outside organizations
The state and federal organizations listed on our resources page are entirely independent of NCWA. NCWA has no funding relationship, partnership, referral agreement, or representation agreement with any of them.
What NCWA does do
- Provides a structured intake form for workplace concerns
- Organises submitted information into a documented case file
- Maintains a dated timeline of status changes
- Provides access to publicly available information about outside agencies
What NCWA does not do
- Represent anyone before any body or proceeding
- Give legal advice or assess whether a law was violated
- Investigate employers or communicate with them
- Guarantee any result, remedy, or agency response

Independence
North Carolina Workplace Advocates (“NCWA”) is an independent private organization. It is a private, employee-supported advocacy initiative that exists to help North Carolina workers document workplace concerns, organise complaint information, and identify the outside organizations that may be able to assist them.
Not a governmental body
NCWA is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, contracted by, or acting on behalf of the State of North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the United States Department of Labor, or any other federal, state, or local governmental agency or body.
NCWA does not receive government funding, does not exercise governmental authority, does not conduct inspections, and does not issue citations, penalties, or remedies of any kind. Nothing on this website should be interpreted as an official act, determination, or communication of any governmental agency.
